I've enclosed a comparison sheet and map as a follo\.... <br />on from the May 19 Road Advisory Committee outlining options. <br /> <br />With oil prices continuing to escalate, 1 anticipate inflation on highway <br />projects will continue at rates much higher than the 2.51Yo interest the <br />County currently receives on funds in the bank. For this reason, I <br />recommend awarding each of the projects that has been bid to date and <br />borrowing money (()t. 1 year from the building fund to cover the funding <br />shortfalL The borrowed building hmds could be paid back from the 2009 <br />road and bridge fund. Tbis would result in a smaller road construction <br />program in 2009, but would likely save considerable money in the long run. <br />For each of the options other than awarding all projects, I've listed a <br />projection of how much more those differed pn~jects will cost in 2009 for <br />inflation rates between 5 and 20 percent. <br /> <br />For the reasons listcd, I recommend that all projects be awarded. I will be <br />available at the Commission meeting to further discllss this matter and <br />answer any questions. <br /> <br />SUGGESTED MOTION: Authorize the Chairman to sign contract <br />documents for the Cass 17/6 improvements, Cass 10 overlay from Maplcton <br />to West Fargo and Cass 10 turn lane improvements at Cass 23.
