Road Advisory Minutes-February 19, 2008 2

Mr. Bennett suggested the project be done to accommodate future growth. Mr. Vanyo
agreed and stated additional information regarding funding, proper timing and
positioning of the roundabout are vital. Mr. Wagner said all options need to be
considered as sometimes short term fixes are most effective.

Mr. Pawluk asked when the intersection would change from county to city responsibility.
Mr. Berndt stated that Horace is planning to annex the land south of 52nd Avenue on
both sides of the intersection. The county's policy is to retain county highways through
cities of less than 5,000 population. Therefore it is unlikely that it could be turned over to
Horace.
MOTION, passed
Mr. Vanyo moved and Mr. Pawluk seconded to direct Mr. Berndt to further
research the proposed intersection project of Cass County Highway 17 and
Cass County Highway 6 (52nd Avenue South) compiling additional information
regarding cost, time frame in obtaining right-of-way from landowners and
options for developing the intersection. All members voted in favor. Motion
carried.

3. Mr. Berndt will attend a transportation workshop in Fargo on March 28. This workshop
will address increases in construction costs; the federal Highway Trust Fund; and federal
aid to North Dakota city and county road and bridge projects.

4. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 1 :55 PM.

Minutes prepared by Cindy Stoick, Principal Secretary
