The public sale <br />could either be handled by a formal bid process, auction, or through a non- <br />exclusive listing agreement. The quickest way to sell the property would be <br />through a bid process, auction, or combination of the two. The affected <br />communities, the Horace Mann residential area and the historical community, <br />have been exploring options for the building and property that are <br />economically viable and are trying to interest potential buyers. Both have <br />indicated they would like to be part of an open house to find a purchaser who <br />could use the structure. <br /> <br />The proposed time line is as follows: <br /> <br />February 19 - authorize placing of an advertisement for sale of the <br />property <br />February 25 - publish block advertisement <br />March 3 - publish block advertisement <br />March 10 - publish block advertisement <br />March 17 - open bids at 10:00 a.m. <br />March 17 - accept bid - Commission Meeting <br /> <br />Here is a sample advertisement outlining the terms of the sale: <br /> <br />For Sale Lots 13 through 19, Block 7 of Hectors Addition to the City of Fargo, <br />57 11th Avenue North, Fargo NO (former Head Start building) <br /> <br />Sale to highest bidder for cash, 10% cash or bond due with bid and balance <br />when closing on the property. Bidder must assume approximately $4,000 in <br />special assessments. Bidder must assume the county's obligations in relation <br />to HOME funding that creates a restrictive use covenant on the property. The <br />amount of the HOME grant is $85,183.
