<br />SUBJECT: ORDINANCE #2005-2 AMENDED (OVER DIMENSION VEHICLE REGULATIONS) <br /> <br />ADOPTED DATE: FEBRUARY 19, 2008 <br /> <br />PAGE 23 OF 23 <br /> <br />C. Pilot Car Requirements <br /> <br />1. All vehicles used as pilot cars must meet the following requirements: <br />a. Vehicle must be a passenger vehicle or 2-axle truck only <br /> <br />b. Vehicle must meet requirements of Title 39 NDCC <br /> <br />c. Driver of the pilot car must have a valid driver's license and be 18 <br />years of age or older. <br /> <br />d. The vehicle must have, on the highest part, a sign that is minimum 12 <br />inches in height and 60 inches in length with the words OVERSIZE <br />LOAD on it. The sign shall be yellow with black lettering. The lettering <br />shall not be less than 8 inches high and 1-inch brush strokes. In <br />addition, flashing amber lights shall be mounted on both ends of the <br />sign. In place of the two alternating lights, there can be one centrally <br />mounted revolving amber light on the top of the sign. <br /> <br />e. There shall be radio communication between the pilot car(s) and the <br />vehicle being escorted. <br /> <br />f. When not being used for an escort, all warning signs and lights must be <br />completely covered or removed from the pilot car(s). <br /> <br />2. When operating in convoy, additional pilot cars will not be required provided that <br />each unit in convoy keep at least 1,000 feet apart so as not to hamper passing <br />traffic. <br /> <br />3.
