Background Information (continued)

The primary users of the bridge are the
residents of 4 homes located on the West
side of the bridge. Without the bridge,
these residents must travel west t mile to
a north-south gravel township road and
then 1 mile south to Cass Highway 20. This
results in their trip to west fargo being 1
mile longer. The extra mile is on a gravel
township.

In 1995 the County entered into an
agreement with Reed Township. Under the
terms of the agreement, Cass County would
make temporary repairs to the bridge and
Reed Township would improve the alternate
route to the 4 residences.

.

Cass County made about $20,000 in short
term repairs to the bridge in 1996. Reed
Township made improvements to the
alternate township roads in 1996 and again
in 2001 with County financial assistance.

.

The Bridge was closed in September 2001
due to its failing condition.

.
