The office occupies a space that contains 5,078 square feet of usable <br />space. The usable space does not include the general circulation area of the <br />bathrooms, elevator lobby or back staircase. The county has been charging the <br />region $64,711 or $12.75 per square foot. The actual charge per square foot is <br />slightly higher for 2007 because the States Attorney's Office took over an 88 square <br />foot office on that floor this yea r. <br /> <br />The rent for the Regional Child Support Office is paid through the end of this year <br />and they are actively searching for space. At the same time, other county offices are <br />actively looking for additional space, State's Attorney, Veteran's Service, and Social <br />Services. For those reasons we have not negotiated a long term deal for the Regional <br />Office for 2008 and beyond. With the limited space available in the Courthouse and <br />Annex it appeared best to try to accommodate our own offices before trying to <br />accommodate a state office. <br /> <br />In looking at our Cost Allocation Plan from 2005 using our Building and Grounds costs <br />allocated to the courthouse, 2% depreciation per year on the South Addition, <br />Security Costs, and parking lot costs I come up with a rough cost per square foot in <br />the South Addition of the Courthouse to be $17.03.
