2 <br /> <br />Weed Control Progress Report May 6, 2024 <br /> <br />Period from April 8, to May 13, 2024, submitted by Stan Wolf <br /> <br />New Business: <br /> <br />NDWCA Sprayer School: The NDWCA conducts several sprayer schools for <br />county weed control staff and other interested persons in the spring at several <br />locations. Topics include R-O-W recertification and updates, NDSU Pesticide <br />Training, Noxious Weeds programs, NDDA, Basic First Aid, weed id, and sprayer <br />calibration. Training will be held at Carrington Research Center on Wednesday, <br />May 29. <br /> <br />Proposed Motion: Move to have weed control staff attend the NDWCA sprayer <br />school at Carrington on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. <br /> <br /> <br />NDWCA Summer Symposium: The North Dakota Weed Control Association <br />will be sponsoring the Northern Plains Weed Management Symposium on <br />August 20-22, 2024, at the North Dakota 4-H Camp at Washburn, ND. The <br />topics covered will include a Noxious Weed Update from the NDDA, live weed <br />identification, drone sprayers and data collection, Ventenata grass weed <br />identification and control, and other topics. Registration is $300.00. <br /> <br />Proposed Motion: Move to approve $300.00 registration and travel costs for <br />weed officer to attend the Northern Plains Weed Management Symposium. <br /> <br />Leafy spurge flea beetle collection: Grant County holds an annual Leafy <br />spurge flea beetle collection and distribution. Landowners, county weed officers, <br />and agency personnel attend to collect and take-home flea beetles. The <br />collection is conducted on the Boy Scout property on Lake Tschida near Elgin. <br />The site hosted flea beetle collections for more than 25 years and draws up to <br />100 participants. The event is usually held in late June, depending on flea beetle <br />emergence. <br /> <br />Proposed Motion: Move to allow weed officer and staff to travel to Grant County <br />for Leafy spurge flea beetle collection. <br /> <br /> <br />2025 Budget: The 2025 budget will need to be developed and turned into the <br />Finance Office in July 2024. <br /> <br />Discussion on upcoming budget needs. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
