2 <br /> <br />Weed Control Progress Report June 5, 2023 <br /> <br />Period from to May 8 to June 3, 2023 submitted by Stan Wolf <br /> <br />New Business: <br /> <br />Chemical Storage: Weed Control is currently purchasing the weed control <br />chemicals and providing them to the contract sprayers. This allows us to <br />purchase the upcoming needed supplies in the fall before prices rise. Weed <br />Control may need to accept delivery prior to the spring spraying season, thereby <br />the need for warm storage for the chemicals. One option is to insulate and heat <br />the vehicle storage area. Estimates of bids will be presented at the meeting. <br /> <br />Action: Evaluate estimates for heating and insulating vehicle/chemical storage <br />area and possible budget costs into 2024 budget. <br /> <br /> <br />2024 Proposed Budget: The 2024 proposed Weed Control Budget is to be <br />submitted to the Finance Office by June 30, 2023. Inflation and supply issues <br />are the great unknown for forecasting budget numbers concerning herbicide and <br />contractor costs. The Finance Office is recommending using a 5.1% inflation <br />rate for 2024 expenses. The current mill levy is 1.2 mills. We will have a <br />proposed budget for your consideration at the meeting. <br /> <br />Action: Discussion and approval of budget and mill levy. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Monthly Report: <br /> <br /> <br />Seasonal Field Aid: Mr. Dylan Robley started on May 22 as the seasonal field <br />aid. Wolf and Robley attended the NDWCA Sprayer School in Carrington on <br />June 1, at Carrington. Mr. Robley passed the commercial applicators test. <br /> <br />NDDOT Noxious Weed Agreement: The annual Noxious Weed Agreement <br />contract was received after our last meeting. The contract is to control noxious <br />weeds in the interstate and state road rights-of-way. NDDOT will reimburse up to <br />$55,000 for any control work including spraying. Mr. Wilcox signed the <br />agreement as it needed to be returned no later than May 22, 2023. <br /> <br />Weed Spraying: Mr. Wolf sprayed the lawn at the County Jail on May 16. Staff <br />applied herbicide in the swimming beach area and along the fishing docks at the <br />County Campgrounds at Brewer Lake. Absinth wormwood was controlled in the <br />campground also. No other spraying activities have been conducted due to
