S. Department
of Justice. The grant is for a three year period ending in 2010 and does require a $62,493.00 local
match which will be done with in-kind funds.

This grant will increase opportunities for early intervention for "system-involved" individuals with
mental illness; provides courts with various treatment options; maximizes diversion opportunities for
nonviolent offenders with mental illness and co-occurring disorders; promotes training for justice and
treatment professionals on criminal justice processes and mental health and substance abuse issues;
and facilitates communications, collaboration and the delivery of support services among justice
professionals, treatment and related service providers, and government partners.

I would ask the Commission to accept this grant award. Should you have any questions; please
contact Major Ellingsberg of my office.

Sample Motion:

Move to approve the FY 07 Justice and Mental Health Collaborative Grant in the amount of$249,973.00 from the
U. S. Department of Justice.
