<br />Commission Minutes-August 13, 2007 3254 <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Pawluk moved and Mr. Bennett seconded to approve the 2008 <br />preliminary budget for the Rush River Water Resource District at 4 <br />mills and 1 mill for the Red River Joint Water Resource District. On <br />roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Pawluk moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to approve the 2008 <br />preliminary budget for the North Cass Water Resource District at 4 <br />mills and the Red River Joint Water Resource District at 1 mill. On roll <br />call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />13. CASS COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY <br />Bruce Whitmarsh, Executive Director, was present. The organization is requesting <br />$100,000 for 2008. The county approved a budget of $52,000 last year. He said <br />conservation and preservation efforts are continuing. A consultant was hired to begin a <br />capital campaign to raise $12 million to make their facility a year-round attraction. The <br />campaign includes a significant endowment with a future goal to become a self- <br />sustaining operation. He said county support helps pay for operational expenses. <br /> <br />Mr. Bennett asked if the historical society has considered auctioning off identical items <br />to help raise funds. Mr. Whitmarsh said they need to inventory the entire collection <br />ranging from 3,000 to 5,000 pieces before an auction is considered. <br /> <br />Mr. Vanyo suggested this budget be increased by $4,400, the amount eliminated from <br />the fair request, for a total of $56,400. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Vanyo moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to approve the 2008 <br />preliminary budget for the Cass County Historical Society in the <br />amount of $56,400. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />14. METROPOLITAN COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS <br />Bob Bright, Executive Director, was present. The budget request for Metropolitan <br />Council of Governments (MetroCOG) includes $7,770 in dues and $5,760 in non-due <br />assessments for a total of $13,530. The funds are used for transportation planning and <br />the request is similar to last year. Mr. Montplaisir said the board approved the non-due <br />assessment fees earlier today, which were included in the Road Department budget. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Vanyo moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to approve the 2008 <br />preliminary budget for Metropolitan Council of Government dues in <br />the amount of $7,770. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />15. FARGO SENIOR COMMISSION, CASS COUNTY COUNCIL ON AGING <br />Brian Arett, Executive Director of the Fargo Senior Commission, was present. Their <br />request is for one mill with matching funds to be received from the state. He said <br />approximately 30% of their budget comes from funds donated by the people using their <br />services. <br />
