<br /> <br />Part II: Growth Sectors <br /> <br />What are the targeted growth sectors? <br />Embedded Systems <br />Vaccine Development <br />Biomedical Device Technologies <br />Other potential growth sectors continuously being evaluated <br /> <br />How did we pick them? <br />Three groups of local experts from the business community, academia, and the public <br />sector held multiple meetings to evaluate and analyze potential growth sectors in three <br />broad categories - information technology, physical sciences and life sciences. A num- <br />ber of sectors were considered, and three were chosen because of their high growth <br />and the community's competitive position and ability to build capacity in these areas. <br /> <br />Why did we pick them? <br />The target technologies were chosen for the following reasons: <br />. High growth potential in the U.S. and global economy <br />. High wage scales <br />. Workforce demand <br />. Existing base of academic competencies <br />.
