June 16, 2022 <br />118 <br /> <br />f. The installation of fire hydrants shall be provided at a maximum spacing of four <br />hundred (400) feet. No residential structure shall be more than two hundred and <br />fifty (250) from the nearest fire hydrant. A hydrant shall be located at all low points <br />and at all high points with adequate means of drainage provided. <br />g. The water supply system shall be designed to meet the following minimum fire <br />flows based on recommendations by the American Insurance Association and the <br />National Board of Fire Underwriters: <br /> h. The distribution system within the subdivisions shall be designed to provide a <br />minimum flow of one thousand (1,000) gallons per minute with twenty (20) pounds <br />per square inch (PSI) residual pressure. <br />i. The distribution system within the subdivision shall be constructed in accordance <br />with the City of Fargo’s Standard Specifications for Construction of Public Utilities, as <br />it presently exists or may hereafter be amended, for water mains and fire hydrants. <br />5. When connection to an existing municipal or public water supply system is proposed: <br />a. The Preliminary Plat application shall include a statement from the authority or <br />organization providing such service that sufficient capacity to service the proposed <br />development is available. Such notice shall: <br />i. Be dated within six (6) months of the plan application <br />ii. Identify the term of the reservation. <br />iii. Provide capacity for the entire development (partial capacity, based on <br />phases of development, will not be acceptable). <br />b. The Final Plat application shall include a statement from the authority or <br />organization providing such service indicating approval of the plans for design, <br />installation and financial guarantees as well as indicating the reservation of <br />sufficient capacity to accommodate the project. <br />6. Those developments not required to connect to a municipal or public water supply system <br />may provide individual or private water supply systems in accordance with this Ordinance <br />and all applicable state and federal regulations. <br />a. A private or on-site water supply system well less than fifty (50) feet in depth shall <br />not be less than one hundred (100) horizontal feet from any on-site sanitary <br />wastewater treatment system.
