Approximately 143.3 acres of cropland are affected at Site A140. <br /> <br />Although it is not possible to predict the exact species or the amounts in which they <br />occur, annual species commonly known to occur within mid-west reservoirs include: <br />Canada thistle (Cirsium arvense), pigweed (Amaranth us sp.), velvet leaf (Abutilon <br />theophrasti), tickseed (Bidens sp.), foxtail barley (Hordeumjubatum), horseweed <br />(Conyza canadensis), and cocklebur (Xanthium sp.). Weed control on flood easement <br />property would likely remain the responsibility of individual landowners. <br /> <br />4.3.1.3 Habitat Mitigation <br /> <br />Plan Conceot <br /> <br />The Applicant would mitigate for impacts to riparian woodlands and grasslands, upland <br />woodlands and grasslands, wetlands, and losses of stream channel. Areas impacted by <br />the proposed dam would not totally disappear, but would experience reduced diversity. <br />The final Fish and Wildlife Habitat Mitigation Plan (hereafter referred to as Habitat <br />Mitigation Plan) is located in Appendix A and includes mitigation for all impacts and <br />uses in-kind mitigation wherever possible. The proposed plan: <br /> <br />· Quantifies potential habitat losses <br /> <br />· Identifies mitigation tracts <br /> <br />· Describes, in general terms, how tracts would be managed <br /> <br />· Provides completion timelines <br /> <br />· Provides a preliminary cost estimate for mitigation activities <br /> <br />· States the funding sources to be used for implementing the plan <br /> <br />· Identifies who would manage the mitigation tracts and what activities would be <br />involved in the management efforts <br /> <br />Areas were determined to be impacted based on elevation above the Maple River and <br />vegetation community present. Woodlands, wetlands, and grasslands below the following <br />elevations would be impacted by the Project: <br /> <br />· Woodlands - 1030 feet msl elevation and below <br /> <br />· Wetlands - 1020 feet msl elevation and below <br /> <br />· Grasslands - 10 10 feet msl elevation and below <br /> <br />The acreage, habitat type, and mitigation ratios proposed by the Applicant for Plan 7 are <br />shown in Table 4-16. <br /> <br />Maple River Dam FEIS <br /> <br />November 2001 <br />
