2 <br /> <br />Weed Control Progress Report Feb 7, 2022 <br /> <br />Period from January 10 to Feb 7, 2022 submitted by Stan Wolf <br /> <br />New Business: <br /> <br />2022 Spray contracts: The Noxious Weed Spray bid opening occurred on <br />Monday, February 7 at 1 pm. Tom Soucy, Cass County Highway Dept. assisted <br />in opening and reviewing the bid packets. The contractors were asked to submit <br />bids for weed spray application less herbicides. Two bid packets were <br />submitted, Walker’s Lawncare and J & J Spraying. The contractors were asked <br />to submit bids for application only, Cass County Weed Control will supply the <br />herbicides. The submitted bids are as follows: <br /> <br /> Contractor Unit $/acre <br /> <br /> Walker’s Lawncare North $31.75 <br /> J & J Spraying South $23.75 <br /> <br />Mr. Soucy and Mr. Wolf will review the references and provide a <br />recommendation to the Weed Board at the February 14, 2022 meeting. <br /> <br />Action: Board to determine winning bids and award bid contracts. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />NDAWN: The North Dakota Agricultural Weather Network operates remote <br />weather monitoring stations and provides up to the minute weather conditions via <br />web connection. The contract sprayers and Weed Control staff utilize the stations <br />within Cass County to determine weather conditions before and during spraying <br />operations. In previous years, the Weed Board has granted $500 to NDWAN to <br />help cover the costs of operating the remote weather stations. <br /> <br />Proposed Motion: Approve a $500 sponsorship grant to NDWAN for the Fargo <br />station in Cass County. <br /> <br /> <br />Northern Corn/Soy Expo: The Northern Corn/Soy Expo will be held on <br />Monday, February 21, 2022 at the Fargodome. Various speakers will discuss <br />markets, crop research, and other topics pertaining to corn and soybean <br />production. Numerous vendors have trade booths at the event. Approximately <br />800 corn and soybean farmers have attended the expo in the past. The North <br />Dakota Weed Control Association has asked Mr. Wolf to secure a booth and will <br />reimburse the cost of the booth. Mr. Wolf has agreed to man the booth. Noxious <br />weed education information will be provided as handouts. Booth cost $750.00. <br />
