December 19, 2005

cc({Jff~

Rod Olson
Court Administrator
East Central Judicial District Court
211 9th Street South
Fargo ND 58103

RE: Cass County Storage Room

Dear Rod:

Your letter dated December 12, 2005, to Bonnie Johnson, our county
coordinator, has been reviewed. I certainly agree that it would be best
and most appropriate for the court to have a more private area for jury
assembly.

Unfortunately, the space that you inquired about is our only multi-
purpose space for a variety of buildings and grounds jobs. We contract
for some improvements and contractors need the space for everything
from painting to flooring supplies and materials. We also need space for
the daily variety of services for employee and department needs.

For example, in 2006 we plan to use the room for several weeks as we
replace and install hardwood floors. We also need the space for
township tax assessor materials plus other short and long-term storage
solutions.

I have not found any other appropriate space for our maintenance
department. We will certainly keep an open ear and eye in terms of
searching for proactive solutions for court and maintenance space
needs. Let's communicate if you or others discover ideas that would be
mutually beneficial.

Also, your October letter expressing specific court needs as part of an
addition were, in my opinion, well done and very professional.

Sincerely,

Vern Bennett, Chairman
Cass County Commission

hmw

cc: County Commissioners
