Road Advisory Minutes--November 17, 2003 4 <br /> <br />Mr. Johnson asked about preparing a financial agreement with the elevator to repair the <br />road if damaged in the spring due to heavy hauling. Mr. Berndt said he is aware of a <br />past agreement for reimbursement of repairs on an unrestricted road, and he would <br />have to review the terms of that agreement but assumed a similar one could be made <br />with this group. <br /> <br />Mr. Rust said the railroad company is dictating the 110 rail cars, referred to as shuttle <br />trains, and if the facility at Casselton is not expanded~ farmers will use other county and <br />state highways to access other elevators. <br /> <br />Mr. Meyer said he is hearing a consensus to continue dialogue with the elevator, the <br />City of Casselton and the North Dakota Department Of Transportation; and if the county <br />participates in the project, they would contribute up tO a total of $100,000. <br /> <br />SNOW REMOVAL, Private driveway rec~uest <br />Mr. Meyer said the last request on today's agenda is from a woman living in the Page <br />area who wants the County Highway Department to remove snow from her driveway. <br />Committee members discussed county policy on snow removal, and Mr. Berndt said the <br />first priority is the county road system. He said they have big equipment for doing miles <br />and miles of roadway, but it is not for getting around homes or private driveways. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Wagner moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to deny the request for <br /> private snow removal services, and that the County Engineer draft <br /> language to incorporate into the snow rem~0val policy that the County <br /> Highway Department will not provide services for routine private snow <br /> removal.
