INVESTIGATION OF ABATEMENT APPLICATION

ABATEMENTS 4301 & 4302

Following is a report on the investigation of the abatement applications of: Clara Deboer

Cass County Board of Commissioners and State Tax Commissioner:

The applicant is asking that the residential valuation be lowered for the years 2005 and 2006
from $17,000 and $18,700 respectively to $2,000. The property is located at 105 2nd 8t Village
of Chaffee, Walburg Twp. Her request is based on a market evaluation of $2,000-$2,500 without
repairs. The applicant indicates that she paid $2,600 for the property in 2001.

The Walburg Twp board recommended denial of the request. They did indicate that the current
value is too high, but that the improvements did have some value, as the garage is being used as
storage and that the house has been lived in the past summers.

I did review the documention that was provided and visited with the assessor and Ms. Deboer.
For 2007, the assessor adjusted the total valuation to $7,200. It would appear that this would also
be a reasonable assessment for the years 2005 and 2006. The taxpayer concurred with that
assessment.

SUGGESTED MOTION: "I move that abatement #4301 and #4302 be reduced to $7,200;
as recommended by the Director of Equalization."

Dated this 17th day of April, 2007.

$~ 1!kJ

Frank Klein
Director of Tax Equalization

j:\tax\wp\abate
