April 1, 2007

Dear Cass County Commissioners:
The Cass County Youth Commission is in its second year of
operations and immense growth has occurred within the prog'ram. As
we continue our studies in county government, leadership qualities,
and exercising our skills for the community, we are all very grateful for
your continued support.
CCYC meetings consist of presentations in the two fields of
county government and leadership followed by a session for our
student-run meeting. County officials have given informative
presentations about Child Support, State's Attorney, Vector Control,
Veteran's Services, Juvenile Court, etc. to educate the members how
they play roles in the community.
In the leadership lessons, NDSU extension agents have
presented classes regarding Robert's Rule of Order, running an
efficient meeting, what it means to be a leader, given the group self-
identity tests, and team building exercises.
With regards to the student-run portion of the meeting, the Cass
County Youth Commission is heading into a very busy spring schedule
with much planning beginning to take place for our end of the year
project. Deciding to modify last years CCYC project, this years event
will consist of a teen dance that will benefit children affected by
poverty in the Cass County area. We plan to attract a larger crowd of
students by using Class Music's DJ Service rather than a specific band
to appeal to more music tastes. The proceeds from "Jammin' for the Y"
will go to the YWCA to support the cause. For now, the event is
scheduled for May 18th at either the NDSU Memorial Hall or at
Bonanzaville.
The meetings as a whole give an opportunity for the members to
not only learn of what is happening in others schools, but to practice
their leadership, speaking, managing, and decision making skills. I
hope this great program continues to grow under new leadership next
year and that the Cass County Commission remains a dedicated
supporter.

Sincerely,
Bill Restemayer
Chairman of CCYC
C: 218-329-6094
