The GFMEDC bas visited with Cass County staff and conducted a review of tax exemption policy in communities around the state and nation. The recommended schedule is based on a company's capital investment and gross payroll and would allow us to maintain a consistent policy when handling all projects. This schedule ensures that our county will be competitive with other communities, while still protecting the best interest of the tax-payers and public schools. We hope to use this schedule as an example of the ability to work with area political subdivisions to achieve tax exemption guidelines that; 1) promote the competitive interests of the region, and 2) assure prudent use of the tax exemption incentive tool. As always, our goal is to attract and expand companies, expand the county's population base and tax revenue, and create high-paying jobs for the citizens ofilie region. The GFMEDC respectfully requests the Commission's adoption of the eass County Tax Exemption Schedule at the December 18, 2006 meeting.
