The allergies are primarily
environmental. Bailey is also allergic to grass and certain trees.
Bailey has been on steroid medication and allergy shots most of her
life. The allergies are not that unusual for dogs, but the severity of
Bailey's allergies are unusual. The steroid keeps Bailey from
scratching, however, Bailey does have bouts where her skin cracks and
bleeds. Bailey will get severe dry skin regardless of the time of year.
Bailey has recently developed a thyroid problem and also takes
medication for the thyroid.

The average work span for a narcotics dog is between five and seven
years or until they shm..;r signs of fatigue. Bailey is very willing to
work and works hard when needed. The problem occurs in the next few
days after working; Bailey doesn't have much energy for the next few
days and needs time to recover. The time to recover has gradually
increased. I believe that if Bailey will have any quality of life after
law enforcement, Bailey should be retired.

Bailey has been involved in over 4,000 drug finds which would consist
of finding drugs and/or articles that have the odor of drugs. These
drug finds include training and actual case work. Bailey has been
utilized in both State and Federal cases. Bailey has been responsible
in the seizure of assets in excess of $30,000.00.

Therefore, it is my recommendation that Bailey be retired
January 2, 2007. I would be willing to purchase Bailey for
have Bailey officially removed from the property of Cass
include care and medical responsibility.

effective
$1.00 and
County to

Than~ ~
~;?r :C5J/Vj/Z~
~{~ctive Mitch Burris -~

Investigation Division
MB/dkb

Approved

~V~~
f;ri~~ ~
