I've also included a brief explanation of the variance:.. Original Budget Current Projection j)i fference Bridge Construction: $935.000 S2.899.000 ($L964J)OO) ::z. Charges for Sen'ices: $38.000 (Rcvenuc from the State) $2.096.248.93 $2.058.248.93 J.... This variation is a result of the way payments were made regarding the Cass County 20/Clay County 22 Red Ri"cr Bridge project. The project costs were shared with Clay County Minnesota. Clay County awarded the construction contract and made payments to the construction contractor. Eighty percent of the Cass County Bridge costs were funded with Federal Funding. Our expectation at the time the budget was prepared was that the North Dakota Department of Transportation would make payments tor the Cass County portion of the project directly to Clay County and then bill Cass County l{)r 20%. So we only included 20% of the bridge costs for this project in our budgct. l\tier the budget was finalized it was decided that Cass County would pay CIa} County and then invoice the State Department of Transportation tor reimbursemcnt of 80% of those costs. During 2006. the 80% of the Cass 20 Bridge costs amounted to a total of$2.096,248.93 which accounts for these two line items variations.
