The Committee is established under N.D.C.C. SS 27-05.2-09 and 27-05.2-10 to make grants to counties for court facilities improvement and maintenance projects. Section 27-05.2-09(3) requires the Advisory Committee to develop rules of operation and procedure. Those rules, as adopted by the North Dakota Supreme Court, are attached for your reference. Under the governing statutes, the Advisory Committee may award grants for a court facility improvement or maintenance project that is a necessary improvement to court facilities or essential to remodel or maintain existing court facilities. The county is required by statute to provide local funding for a project in an amount equal to at least 25% of the projects total cost. Grants will be awarded for new projects only. The Advisory Committee is now accepting applications for grants to be awarded from the Court Facility Improvement and Maintenance Fund. If your county elects to request grant funds, please complete the attached Application for Court Facility Improvement Grant Funds. You may wish to consult the applicable statutes and the attached Rules of Operation and Procedure to assist you in identifying a project that may qualify for grant funds. Your county's Application must be postmarked no later than December 31. 2006. to be considered in this round of application reviews.
