2 <br /> <br /> <br />Weed Control Progress Report September 8, 2020 <br /> <br />Period from August 10 to Sept 7,2020 submitted by Stan Wolf <br /> <br />New Business: No new business <br /> <br /> <br />Monthly Report: <br /> <br />Contractor right-of-way spraying: Walker’s Lawncare has continued to spray <br />when conditions were favorable. J&J Spraying will be starting to spray the week <br />of September 7, starting on state and county roads. To date, 2847 acres have <br />been sprayed totaling $111,309. Remaining contractor spraying budget is <br />$228,691 which should cover approximately 6000 acres. <br /> <br />Weed Control Order: A formal complaint regarding noxious weeds in a <br />residential yard at 208 Argus Ave., Page has been received and investigated. A <br />large patch of Canada thistle was found in the back yard of the property. A <br />Notice of Infestation was sent to the owner on June 12, 2020 followed with a <br />Control Order on July 17,2020 to be delivered via Cass County Sheriff’s Office. <br />The weeds were to be controlled by July 27, 2020. No contact by the Sheriff’s <br />Office was made. The Control Order was resent via return receipt certified letter <br />on August 7, 2020, with control to be completed by August 17, 2020. On August <br />20, 2020, an Enforcement Order was mailed via return receipt certified letter with <br />control to be completed by August 26, 2020. No return receipt of either certified <br />letter was received. On August 27, 2020 it was deemed that no control effort by <br />the owner was undertaken. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office assisted by <br />providing two deputies to assure that no one or animal was present on the <br />property, Cass County Weed Control applied MecAmine-D, a labeled lawn <br />herbicide, was applied to the Canada thistle infestation. An invoice in the amount <br />of $180.00 was sent to the owner. If not paid by November 1, 2020, that amount <br />will be applied to the property taxes as per N.D.C.C. 4.1-47. <br /> <br />Spray complaint: A possible spray complaint damaging a portion of a soybean <br />field was received on August 27. The producer is not looking for damages but <br />wanted to inform Weed Control of the affected area and to remind the sprayer <br />operators to be careful. <br /> <br />A contractor had sprayed the road ditch in that area on July 11, 2020. A NDSU <br />Weed Specialist looked at the affected area and thought that soybean cyst <br />nematoid could be causing the soybean to die back, not herbicide drift. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
