Vanyo Fargo, North Dakota Horace, North Dakota Mr. David Sprynczynatyk North Dakota Department of Transportation 608 East Boulevard Avenue Bismarck, ND 58505 SUBJECT: Letter of Support for City of Fargo Sheyenne River Pedestrian Bridge Enhancement Project Application Dear Mr. Sprynczynatyk: The Cass County Commission would like to offer its strong support for the City of Fargo's Transportation Enhancement Fund Application for the Sheyenne River Pedestrian Bridge. The project provides a valuable bicycle and pedestrian link between the large residential developments on both sides of the Sheyenne River. It also provides an important link between the residential developments and the furore Cass Highway 17 multi-use path connection to West Fargo. The 1920, one hundred and sixteen foot-long truss bridge over the Sheyenne River was salvaged intact when it was recently replaced by Cass County. While the structure was functionally obsolete for vehicle traffic, it will make an outstanding pedestrian facility. The project offers a unique opportunity to preserve this classic landmark bridge.
