I'm <br />further recommending that Cass County split the 50% local construction <br />cost match with the City of Mapleton and tund the administrative and <br />engineering costs <br /> <br />I was approached by City Officials from Mapleton several months ago <br />about bicycle and pedestrian safety concerns in along Cass County <br />Highway II. The city would like to see a multi-use path constructed from <br />City Hall south to 1-94. The distance is about 3.500 teet. The approximate <br />construction cost of a path would be about $200.000. <br /> <br />The NO-DOT accepts applications lor 'I E funds oncc a year. The deadline <br />tor 2008 TE fund requests is in November 2007. If successtul in receiving <br />a TE funds grant. it would fund 80% of the construction costs. DOT rules <br />allow only Counties and Cities with populations over 5000 to apply for TF <br />funds directly. Therel()fc MapIeton can not apply directly for these grants <br />so the County has to act as a sponsor in order Jor Mapleton to be eligible. <br /> <br />SUGGESTED MOTION: Authorize Chair to sign a Transportation <br />Enhancement fund grant application for a multi-use path adjacent to Cass <br />County Highway II in Mapleton with an estimated construction cost of <br />$200,000.
