F<ECEIVE1'

MEMORANDUM

OCT 4 2006

To: Cass County Board of Commissioners

CASS COUNTY COMMISSAQI;

From: John Waller, Administrator, Southeast Regional Child Support Enforcement Unit

Dated: October 5, 2006

Re: Request to be on the Consent Agenda! Annual Leave Carry-Over Request

Please accept this request to be placed on the consent agenda for the October 16, 2006
meeting of the Cass County Board of Commissioners. I would request commission
approval to allow Adair Boening to carry accrued annual leave in excess of 240 hours
beyond January 15,2007.

Ms. Boening, an attorney in the office, currently has accumulated 357.5 hours ofleave.
Her leave accrued to such a balance because her ability to take leave was limited due to
the high staff turnover in our legal department. Not only has she helped cover the
caseload of the attorney's who resigned; she has been helping train the replacements.

To the extent the situation allows, Adair intends on taking leave between now and the end
of the year, so as to minimize the excess hours carried over.

The leave in excess of240 hours would be used within 90 days of January 15,2007, and
there was no request to use this procedure last year.

PROPOSED MOTION

I propose a motion to approve the carrying beyond January 15,2007 of over 240 hours of
annual leave in the case of Adair Boening, Assistant State's Attorney in the Regional
Child Support Enforcement Unit.
