<br />Commission Minutes--August 14, 2006 3103 <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson said $90,000 was budgeted for tile installation at the middle rear <br />entry to the courthouse and for matching funds to replace carpeting in district <br />court. She said $75,000 was included in the jail buildings and grounds budget <br />to replace a cooling unit at the master control in the jail; to replace three of the <br />eight security computers; and to begin a light bulb replacement cycle at the <br />jail. She budgeted $40,000 to replace the door locking system at juvenile <br />detention and for new tile in the children's room at the annex. She said bids <br />for the tile have come in lower than she anticipated and the line item may be <br />reduced by $10,000. She noted that $20,000 was also included in the sheriff's <br />department budget for a locking system at juvenile detention and suggested <br />the item be removed from one of the budgets. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mr. Pawluk seconded to remove $20,000 <br />from the Sheriff's Department juvenile detention budget for a door <br />locking system and to reduce the general maintenance line item <br />for the annex from $40,000 to $30,000 for tile in the children's <br />room and for a new locking system at juvenile detention. On roll <br />call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to approve the 2007 <br />preliminary budget as amended for the County Coordinator. On <br />roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson said that $1,500 was included in the sheriff's budget to place an <br />AED (automatic external defibrulator) machine in the jail transport van. She <br />said the county received three AED machines at no cost through the Dakota <br />Medical Foundation. She will contact them about obtaining one for the <br />transport van. <br /> <br />3. METROPOLITAN COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS <br />Bob Bright, Executive Director, was present. The budget request for Metropolitan <br />Council of Governments (MetroCOG) includes $7,193 in dues and $6,346 in non-due <br />assessments for a total of $13,539. The county's share is 10.5% of the total budget. The <br />funds are used for transportation planning. Mr. Montplaisir said last week the board <br />approved the non-due assessment fees, which were included in the road department <br />budget. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Vanyo moved and Mr. Wagner seconded to approve the 2007 <br />preliminary budget for Metropolitan Council of Governments dues <br />in the amount of $7,193. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />4. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY <br />Terry Schmaltz, Information Technology Director, was present. He provided a power <br />point presentation that included numerous items, as follows: consulting contract for 2007; <br />PC replacement cycle; network software maintenance; phone charges; AS400 software; <br />network software; and network equipment. <br />
