I do not <br />anticipate his return until November or December of this year. His Family <br />Medical Leave will expire toward the end of this month but he continues <br />to have sufficient sick and annual leave to cover his absence. <br /> <br />The problem I have is that I cannot leave that position vacant and have <br />been forced to fill it with overtime. It would be less costly to the county if <br />I could hire a Correctional Officer I at $12.56 an hour than continue <br />paying overtime at $26.10 an hour. At current projections, our jail full <br />time salary line item will have a surplus of approximately $20,000 by the <br />end of the year.
