<br />Commission Minutes-August 21,2006 3121 <br /> <br />12. VOUCHERS, Approved <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mr. Pawluk seconded to approve Voucher No. <br />209,779 through Voucher No. 210,307. On roll call vote, the motion <br />carried with four members voting "Yes" and Mrs. Sorum being absent. <br /> <br />13. MAPLE RIVER DAM TOUR; CASS CLAY JOINT MEETING; ANNEX PARKING LOT; <br />COUNTY HEALTH & WELLNESS FAIR; AED TRAINING; COURTHOUSE FLOORING; <br />RED RIVER DISPATCH, Committee reports <br />Mrs. Johnson said a tour of the Maple River dam site will be conducted on Wednesday, <br />August 30, 2006, by representatives of the Southeast Cass Water Resource District. The <br />tour will leave at 1 :30 PM from the Cass County Highway Department. Mr. Vanyo said due <br />to a scheduling conflict, he wi/I be unable to attend and will tour the area at a later date. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson said a joint meeting of the Cass and Clay County Commissions is scheduled <br />for Tuesday, September 5, 2006, at 11 :30 AM at the Cass County Jail. She distributed a <br />draft agenda and said after today, the agenda will be sent to commissioners and <br />department heads scheduled to speak at the meeting. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson received a request from a group of short-wave (ham) radio operators to use <br />the annex parking lot on either September 9th or September 23rd to sell used radio <br />equipment. She said both dates fall on a Saturday. <br />MOTION, withdrawn <br />Mr. Pawluk moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to authorize the use of the <br />county parking lot at the annex for the sale of used radio equipment. <br />Discussion: Mr. Wagner has an issue with selling goods on county <br />property. Mr. Vanyo asked about county liability and whether this would <br />be setting a precedent. Mr. Pawluk feels the public should be allowed to <br />use public property. Mr. Burdick suggested the county's insurance <br />carrier be contacted about liability concerns. Mr. Pawluk withdrew his <br />motion and made a substitute motion. <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Pawluk moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to authorize the use of the <br />county parking lot at the annex for the sale of used radio equipment, <br />subject to reasonable assurances received from the state's attorney after <br />his review. On roll call vote, the motion carried with Mr. Pawluk, Mr. <br />Vanyo and Mr. Bennett voting "Yes"; Mr. Wagner voting "No"; and Mrs. <br />Sorum being absent. Mr. Montplaisir will contact the county's insurance <br />agent regarding this item. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson said a Health and Wellness Fair for county employees is scheduled for <br />Thursday, September 14,2006, in the basement of the annex. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson said automatic external defibrillator (AED) training will be offered to <br />county employees this fall. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson said the wood flooring that was recently installed in the courthouse is <br />delaminating and the floor manufacturer will be in town this Friday to evaluate the <br />situation. <br />
