.

CASS COUNTY
COMMISSION POLICY MANUAL

SUBJECT: POLICY ON ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY PROGRAM

9.50

ADOPTED DATE: JANUARY 17, 2006

*
*
*
*
. *
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*

.

Cass County Government recognizes the need and the desirability of litter-free highways.
This policy establishes the County's Adopt-A-Highway program. Under the program, the
County permits local groups to volunteer their efforts to maintain designated segments of
County highways litter-free. The County provides signs displaying the group's name or
acronym.

Segments will normally be three miles in length, but can be adjusted by the County
Engineer between two and four miles to provide for logical termini. The County may
provide and erect signs at each end of the roadway segment at the County's expense. The
County may fund signs for up to 5 segments (10 signs) per year. At any given time, there
should be no more than 15 segments county-wide. Requests will be treated on a first
come, first serve basis. The following highways will be considered:

C-81 between C-18 and the Fargo City limits (3 segments)
C-6 between C-17 and 1-29 (1 segment)
C-10 between Mapleton and West Fargo (2 segments)
C-11 from 1-94 three miles north (1 segment)
C-15 from State 46 three miles north (1 segment)
C-17 between Horace and 52nd Avenue South (1 segment)
C-17 between West Fargo and Harwood (3 segments)
C-19 and C-28 between C-10 and West Fargo City limits at 13th Avenue
(1 segment)
C-20 between C-17 and the Red River (2 segments)
C-22 between Harwood and the Red River (1 segment)
C-31 between C-22 and C-20 (1 segment)
C-26 from C-11 west three miles
C-15 from C-36 north three miles to C-16
C-16 from C-15 west three miles to C-27
All segments of County Highways passing through small cities not mentioned
above. A maximum of two segments should be allowed per City, with segments
extending up to three miles outside the city limits.

Other specific provisions of this policy are contained in the Cass County Adopt-A-Highway
Agreement (see copy in commission office).

HISTORICAL REFERENCE DATE: NOVEMBER 7,1994
