2 <br /> <br /> <br />Weed Control Progress Report March 2, 2020 <br /> <br />Period from Feb 10 to March 2, 2020 submitted by Stan Wolf <br /> <br />New Business: <br /> <br />Noxious Weed Spray Bid Award: A bid opening was held on Monday, March 2 <br />at 1 pm. Blain Laaveg, Cass County Highway Dept. and Stan Wolf, Cass County <br />Weed Control Officer were present to open and review the bids. Two contractors <br />submitted bids for spraying noxious weeds for the 2020-2021 spray seasons, <br />Walker’s Lawncare and J&J Spraying. The bids for the Tordon/Freelexx 2,4-D <br />herbicide mix were as follows: <br /> <br /> Contractor Unit $/applied acre <br /> Walker’s Lawncare North $39.40 <br /> J&J Spraying South $36.39 <br /> <br />Both bids were complete and responsive with no irregularities. <br /> <br />Action item: Discuss the bids and award contract for the North unit and the <br />South unit. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Drone license renewal: Mr. Wolf’s FAA part 107 drone pilot license will expire <br />on May 4, 2020. A valid drone pilot license is required for an operator to fly the <br />Board’s drone for scouting purposes. The renewal process will involve taking a <br />written test, costing $150.00. <br /> <br />Proposed motion: Approve Mr. Wolf to renew drone license, cost $150. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Flood Fight Assistance: The Cass County Highway Department may ask for <br />the use of the drone and pilot to conduct preliminary flood damage evaluations of <br />county roads. Mr. Wolf would provide video or still shots to the county engineers. <br /> <br />Proposed motion: Move to allow Mr. Wolf to use drone to provide video or <br />pictures of county properties and road rights-of-way to the Cass County Highway <br />Department. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
