Highway superjntende~9 <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />May 4, 2006 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />Consent agenda topic for May 15 Commission Meeting: <br />Purchase of Mowers <br /> <br />As part of our 2006 Budget we included the purchase of three rotary mowers. <br />Listed are the results of the quotes received per each unit: <br /> <br />Vendor <br />Rust Sales, Inc. - Harwood <br />ROO Equipment - Kindred <br />Titan Machinery - Casselton <br /> <br />Model <br />Bush Hog 3710 <br />John Deere CX 15 <br />Degelman RCI020 <br /> <br />Price Each <br />$1 0,960.00 <br />$13,500.00 <br />$14,379.00 <br /> <br />The Bush Hog mower does not meet the requested specillcation for a double <br />wall deck with a smooth top, and is also \ 2" over the maximum width <br />requested. The double wall deek eliminates the denting of the top deck surface <br />caused by stones and other objects being thrown by the blades. The force of <br />these objects will dent the deck severe enough to chip the paint from the <br />outside surface, causing premature rusting. A smooth, sloped surface of the <br />top deck reduces the accumulation of grass and water on thc deck. Ifgrass and <br />moisture is allowed to accumulate on the deck, it will also accelerate rusting. <br />Allhough these features add to the initial cost. we feel that it will extend the <br />usel'ul lil'e of the equipment.
