The current rate is
$60 per day for the jail and $120 per day for juvenile detention.

Our current cost to house each is listed below:

CASS COUNTY JAIL
2005
$3.636,937
$439.165
$334.830
$493.624
$330.486
$366.092
$5.601.134

ITEM
Salaries/Benefits
Medical
Food
Facility
Operations
Depreciation

% oITola1
64.93%
7.64%
5.98%
8.81%
5.90%
6.54%
100.00%

Cass County Cost per Inmate

$68.81

CASS COUNTY DETENTION
ITEM 2005 % of T alai
Salaries/Benefits $490.729 95.77%
Medical $193 0.04%
Food $12,645 2.47%
Facility $0 0.00%
Operations $8,856 1.73%
Depreciation $0 0.00%
$512.423 100.00%

Gass Co Cost per Juvenile

$154.86

There are some costs which the Federal Government does not allow us to claim when
we are submitting a rate calculation to the US Marshal Service. Those costs would
include any which cannot be directly beneficial to their inmate. Costs such as
Hospitalization or Medication as each jurisdiction pays their own. Also included
would be CourtlTransport Staff as each jurisdiction has their own transport staff and
their own courts. Finally, our Commissary Clerk as she is paid from commissary
funds. Those costs total $714,913.00 and would bring the daily rate to $60.03 which
would be in line with our current $60 per day charge for other jurisdictions.

Therefore, I would recommend that the current jail rate remain at $60 per day but our
juvenile rate be increased to $155.00 per day.

~d}J

Major Glenn ElIingsberg ~
Chief Deputy

cc.
