The 51 state contacts that responded to our national survey generously lent their
time and expertise. The many public guardianship program stan: judges, lawyers, Adult
Protective Services (APS) workers, aging and disability advocates and wards who
participated in our interviews and focus groups in the site visit states gave us key
information and valuable perspectives essential to our findings.

In particular, we thank the key informants in the seven states we studied in-depth:
Michelle Hollister in Florida; John Wank, Helen Godlewski, and Patrick Murphy in
Illinois; Sue Crone in Kentucky; Kate Tewanger in Indiana; Ellen Henningsen in
Wisconsin; Deanna Clingan-Fischer in Iowa, and Sherry Shamel in Missouri.

Our advisory panel assisted in the drafting of the survey questionnaire and offered
prompt and careful review of draft chapters: Joy Duke, David English. Marty Ford, Sally
Hurme, Judge John Kirkendall, and Karen Roberto.

We appreciate the assistance of the University of Kentucky staft~ including Erin
Abner, Tyler Dugar, Graham Rowles, and Monica Underwood.

We gratefully acknowledge the support of Julie Kaufman at the Retirement
Research Foundation and the grant from the Foundation that made this report possible.

Pamela B.
