Commission Minutes--August 24, 1999 2028 <br /> <br />field equipment, radios - deduct $200,000 (purchase from capital expenditure fund) <br />radar - deduct $3000 (purchase one instead of two) <br />vehicles - deduct $23,000 (retain one Dodge Intrepid with 63,000 miles) <br />contract policing - add $3,354 <br />dart gun - add $600 <br />an upward adjustment in Social Security and Medicare for operations and jail staff, as <br />further calculated by Deb Ness <br />jail wellness/testing - deduct $2,205 <br />jail computer - deduct $2,000 (age of present computer doesn't meet rotation schedule) <br />storage wall cabinet for detention center control room - deduct $1,000 <br /> <br />The Sheriff's Department budget for next year includes an additional $10,000 for paying <br />Sheriff's reserve deputies for working at special events. He estimated paying them $10/hour, <br />which includes benefits, and he anticipates about 1,000 hours of paid work throughout the year. <br />The reserves volunteer about 2,000 hours per year. Mr. Wieland expressed concern about <br />wage and hour laws, and Bonnie Johnson was asked to review this. <br /> <br />RECESS <br />The Board discussed when they would continue budget reviews as two departments are left, <br />Regional Child Support Enforcement Unit and Information Services. A representative of the <br />Humane Society was unable to attend the scheduled appointment at a previous meeting, and <br />Mrs. Quick proposed using the same amount as this year's budget for the Humane Society.
