<br />Commission Minutes--May 3, 1999 1973 <br /> <br />7. PERMIT FOR SPECIAL EVENTS, Approved for Playmaker's Sports Cafe and Bar <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Koenig moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to approve special <br />event permits for Playmaker's Sports Cafe and Bar to dispense <br />alcoholic beverages at two wedding receptions in June, these being <br />held on June 4 and June 5, 1999, at Bonanzaville, U.S.A. On roll call <br />vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />8. ROAD DEPARTMENT, County Highway 28 closing during fireworks show <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Koenig moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to authorize the closing <br />of Cass County Highway 28, between the south side of the <br />Fairgrounds and 13th Avenue South, from 5:00 PM to 1 :00 AM each <br />night from August 8-13, 1999, as a safety precaution during a major <br />fireworks show. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />9. PERSONNEL OVERVIEW COMMITTEE, Ratify actions of May 3. 1999. meeting <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Koenig moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to ratify action of the <br />Personnel Overview Committee meeting of May 3, 1999, and approve <br />the reduction in force plan to discontinue the welfare fraud program <br />for Region Five. The 1999 State Legislature eliminated all funding for <br />the welfare fraud program in Cass County effective June 30, 1999. On <br />roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />10. CONTRACT APPROVAL, Southeast Human Service Center: Central Specialties. Inc.: North <br />Dakota Department of Transportation: Houston Engineering <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Koenig moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to approve the following <br />contracts submitted by respective department head and portfolio <br />commissioner, subject to state's attorney approval; and authorize the <br />chairperson to sign. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Southeast Human Service Center--Adult Protective Services; <br />Central Specialties, Inc.--County Highway 15, 16 and 27 bituminous overlay; <br />North Dakota Department of Transportation--resolution accepting low bid and <br />authorization to sign contract when available for County Highway 2 bridge replacement; <br />Houston Engineering--design of replacement bridge for the year 2000 on Cass County <br />81 and a replacement bridge for the year 2001 on Cass County 16, as approved the <br />Road Advisory Committee last fall; <br />North Dakota Department of Transportation--construction and maintenance agreement <br />and right of way certification for the Cass County Highway 14 improvement project. <br /> <br />11. JAIL LAND ACQUISITION, County to purchase 18.11 acres for construction of a new iail <br />Mrs. Quick said this item was added to today's agenda because negotiations are progressing <br />rapidly for the purchase of land for construction of a new jail facility. Cass County voters <br />approved the sales tax option as a way to pay for the facility at the April 20, 1999, election. <br />
