Commission Minutes--April 12, 1999 1966 <br /> <br />The Board discussed adopting a motion to authorize the County Auditor to proceed with land <br />acquisition at the 34th Street and 4th Avenue South location, however, Mr. Montplaisir said it <br />would be premature to purchase a site until after the April 20th election and suggested that he <br />and the State's Attorney meet with the parties involved if the vote is approved. Mr. Wieland said <br />the Board's first choice would be land in the Crane Johnson area on the site with the least <br />possible cost. <br /> <br />Wane Engkjer, E & D Development, asked to address the Board at this time. He owns 54 acres <br />of land in the Crane Johnson area and informed the Board that the purchase price of his <br />property was reduced earlier today. MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Meyer moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to select the 34th Street <br /> and 4th Avenue South area for a proposed new Cass County Jail, with <br /> the specific site to be negotiated by the County Auditor and brought <br /> back to the Board for final purchase after the April 20th election.
