Commission Minutes--August 20, 1998 <br />DEPARTMENT HEADS--PLEASE POST IN A CONSPICUOUS PLACE FOR STAFF TO READ <br /> <br /> RECESSED MEETING OF CASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> MEETING IN BUDGET SESSION <br /> AUGUST 20, 1998 <br /> <br />1857 <br /> <br />MEETING TO ORDER <br />Chairman Donna Schneider called the budget meeting to order at 8:00 AM on August 20, 1998, in <br />the Commission Room, Cass County Courthouse, with all members present as follows: Paul Koenig, <br />John Meyer, Roberta Quick, Alon Wieland, and Donna Schneider. <br /> <br />BUDGET REVIEW <br />John Coif, Cass County States Attorney, presented the budget for his office, including the Victim <br />Witness program. No action was taken at this time. <br /> <br />Jim Brent presented the budget for the Veterans Service Office. No action was taken at this time. <br /> <br />Brian Shorten presented the budget for the Fargo-Moorhead Metropolitan Council of Governments. <br />The dues will remain constant for 1999. No action was taken at this time. <br /> <br />Dorothy Howard presented the budget for the Clerk of Court office. Discussion was held on <br />reducing overtime by $1,000, reducing travel to $1,200 to take out the travel costs to Bismarck for <br />training on the new system being put in by the State, and reducing temporary employment from <br />$35,000 to $25,000. <br /> MOTION, failed <br /> Mr. Koenig moved to approve the budget for the Clerk of Court Office. <br /> The motion failed for lack of a second. <br /> <br />Mike Steiner presented the budget for Information Services. Discussion was held on removing <br />several projects as follows: <br /> <br />101-1801-412.33-09 <br /> <br />101-1801-412.43-03 <br />101-1801-412.65-01 <br /> <br />11-1801-41265-02 <br /> <br />Internet enable tax application <br />Cognos & GUI client interface <br />HTE Cognos & GUI maintenance <br />HTE GUI clients software <br />Legisstream & Questys <br />Cognos report writer <br />AS400 address verification <br /> <br />10,000 <br />7,500 <br />2,250 <br />4,500 <br />80,000 <br />5,000 <br />3,500 <br /> <br />No action was taken at this time. <br /> <br />Don Rudnick, Glen Ellingsberg, and Walt Willis presented the budgets for the Sheriff's Office and <br />Jail. No action was taken at this time. <br /> <br />RECESS <br />The Commission recessed the meeting about 12:15 PM and will reconvene at 8:00 AM Friday, <br />August 21, 1998. <br /> <br /> <br />
