Mrs. Schneider suggested
delaying the start of the budget meeting that day, and Commissioners were in agreement to
begin at 9:00 AM on August 19th, continuing until 4:00 PM instead of 3:00 PM. Also, Mr. Koenig
may not be able to attend the budget meeting on August 24th, which will be the Social Services
budget. Mrs. Schneider said she will miss that meeting also.

Mr. Wieland, along with County Auditor Mike Montplaisir and County Coordinator Bonnie
Johnson, reported on the jail seminarthey attended in Longmont, Colorado, last week sponsored
by the National Institute of Corrections. Sheriff Don Rudnick, Jail Administrator Walt Willis, and
the jail architect also attended the training session on planning of new institutions. Mrs. Johnson
will establish a library of the materials they received on jail planning.

A conference retreat is being planned by the Fargo Moorhead Chamber of Commerce, and all
commissioners are encouraged to attend, according to Mrs. Johnson.

13.
