16. <br /> <br />17. <br /> <br />Commission Minutes--July 21, 1997 1668 <br /> <br />Mr. Wieland suggested calling a special meeting of the Cass County Board of Commissioners for <br />the purpose of reconvening the Board of Equalization; and the meeting was set for July 30, 1997, <br />at 9:00 AM in the Commission Room at the courthouse. Mr. Wieland asked if this time frame would <br />allow the State's Attorney enough time to clarify the question on notice of increase, and Mr. Goff said <br />it would. Mr. Wieland asked that Mr. Goff and Mr. Klein work together on this clarification. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Schneider moved and Mr. Meyer seconded to reconvene the County <br /> Board of Tax Equalization on July 30, 1997, at 9:00 AM in the Commission <br /> Room at the Cass County Courthouse. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />On the matter of Durbin Township residential assessments, Mr. Wieland said any action will be <br />considered at the July 30th meeting also. Keith Gohdes was present today and given an opportunity <br />to speak to the board at this time regarding the Durbin Township increases. Mr. Gohdes said his <br />argument today is the same question as raised by Mr. Garaas on the notification; and secondly, he <br />disagrees with the way the assessment was made and stated the appraiser should have worked with <br />the property owner. Also, Mr. Gohdes does not believe he will receive the same value in benefits <br />as the amount of tax increase. <br /> <br />Mr. Wieland asked if anyone else wished to make a comment on assessments at this time and <br />hearing none, recessed the board of equalization. <br /> <br />EMPLOYEE VIDEO ORIENTATION; COMMISSIONERS JOINT MEETING WITH FARGO AND <br />WEST FARGO CITY COMMISSIONERS; UPCOMING MEETINGS; STATE'S ATTORNEY UPDATE <br />ON SUPPORT STAFF; BUDGET PREPARATIONS; MOSQUITO SPRAYING, Committee reports <br />Bonnie Johnson said filming will begin on the employee orientation video, which is being updated <br />by the Personnel Office. <br /> <br />Commissioners were reminded of the joint meeting with Fargo and West Fargo City Commissioners <br />scheduled for August 5th at 11:30 AM, Fargo Holiday Inn, hosted by the City of Fargo. <br /> <br />Mrs. Schneider will be attending a valuation workshop at NDSU Thursday. Mr. Meyer is attending <br />a Gang Task Force meeting Tuesday afternoon at Fargo City Hall and two water resource board <br />meetings this week. Mrs. Quick mentioned the community involvement meeting Tuesday at the <br />Tower City Cafe, and she will be speaking to a local Kiwanis Group next Monday. <br /> <br />John Goff reported that he recently filled two secretary positions and one file clerk position. <br /> <br />Michael Montplaisir, County Auditor, reported on the budget process and said all budgets are due <br />by August 1st. <br /> <br />Mr. Wieland reported on a news release concerning residential spraying for adult mosquitoes <br />Tuesday evening, July 22nd, beginning at approximately 8:30 PM in the cities of Fargo, West Fargo, <br />Frontier and Mapleton. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Quick moved and Mr. Meyer seconded to <br /> correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: <br /> <br />receive and file <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br /> <br />
