16. <br /> <br />17. <br /> <br />Commission Minutes--January 21, 1997 1576 <br /> <br />adjustment for the next regularly scheduled Commission meeting to <br />fund the balance. Discussion: Mr. Montplaisir said some assumptions <br />were made when his estimates were put together, those being that no <br />money was estimated for additional equipment or office furniture. Mr. <br />Goff said computer equipment is being replaced for some of the <br />current staff so that equipment can be used by the new hires. As far as <br />furniture, Mr. Goff said that can be worked out for this year. On roll call <br />vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />ROAD DEPARTMENT, Emer;a_ency funds to be used for snow removal purposes; _=urchase <br />of tractor-mounted snow blower approved <br />Keith Berndt, County Engineer, briefed the Commission on the status of the county roads due to <br />excessive snowfall and blizzard conditions numerous times this winter. He requested permission <br />to contract for two bulldozers to assist his department with removing snow from the county roads. <br />He said the money would have to be paid from the department's road construction line item. <br />However, since the Commission declared a snow emergency earlier today, Mr. Montplaisir said <br />the Road Department could utilize the county emergency fund for this purpose. He said there is <br />about $400,000 in the emergency fund. If the Board concurs, Mr. Berndt said he would like <br />authorization to spend up to $25,000 at this time to assist with snow removal from county roads. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Quick moved and Mr. Meyer seconded to authorize County <br /> Engineer Keith Berndt to spend up to $25,000 from the county <br /> emergency fund for snow removal purposes on county roads. On roll <br /> call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mm. Quick moved and Mr. Koenig seconded to authorize the County <br />Engineer to purchase a tractor-mounted snow blower at a cost of <br />approximately $4,000. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mrs. Quick commended Mr. Berndt for the excellent job of snow removal on county roads, and <br />she said county residents appreciate that as far as safety. <br /> <br />SENIOR CITIZEN BUS, Appoint committee to review policy MOTION, passed <br /> Mre. Schneider moved and Mre. Quick seconded to appoint a <br /> committee to review policy concerning the bus used by Cass County <br /> senior citizens, the committee to consist of the following members: <br /> Motion carried. <br /> <br />two county commissioners--John Meyer, Robbie Quick <br />two county department heads--Mike Montplaisir, John Goff <br />two people representing outside interests--Brian Arett, Everett Mattson <br /> <br />Mr. Wieland asked Commissioner Meyer to serve as chairman of the committee, and that they <br />report back to the County Commission in 60 days. <br /> <br /> <br />
