On roll call vote, motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />VETERAN'S SERVICE OFFICER, Award presented to John Meyer for years of service <br />On behalf of the Cass County Board of Commissioners, Chairman Ness presented an award to <br />John Meyer recognizing him for 29 years of service as Cass County Veteran's Service Officer. <br />Mr. Meyer submitted his letter of resignation effective October 17, 1995. <br /> <br />Victor Pellerano, Commander Fargo VFW Post 762, spoke on behalf of a delegation of about 30 <br />veterans present today to verbally protest the relocation of the Veteran's Service Office from the <br />Cass County Courthouse to the Cass County Government Annex. Last week, Commissioners <br />received a 7-point letter from the United Patriotic Bodies of Cass County outlining reasons why <br />they believe office space at the annex is inadequate for the Veteran's Service Office. Mr. <br />Pellerano said he understands the letter from United Patriotic Bodies will be forwarded to the <br />Space and Planning Committee with a formal request to meet with that group on October 23rd. <br /> <br />BORDERUD'S SUBDIVISION STREET IMPROVEMENT, Public hearinq held <br />A public hearing was advertised on the special assessment list for Street Improvement District <br />No. 95-1 (Borderud's Subdivision). The chairman opened the hearing for comments from the <br />audience and hearing none, closed the public hearing. MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Toussaint moved and Mr. Eckert seconded that the assessment <br /> list for Street Improvement District No. 95-1 of the County of Cass, as <br /> confirmed by the Special Assessment Commission of the County of <br /> Cass, be and the same is hereby confirmed. On roll call vote, motion <br /> carried unanimously. <br /> <br />REED TOWNSHIP, Bridge between Sections 7-18 <br />Commissioners received a letter dated September 14, 1995 from the Reed Township Board of <br />Supervisors, and a memorandum from County Engineer Keith Berndt dated September 22, 1995, <br />concerning a bridge located between Sections 7 and 19, Reed Township. <br /> <br />Mr. Berndt said the bridge at this location is presently open to traffic but is in very poor condition <br />and will require closing or repair in the near future. He estimated it would cost $700,000 to <br />replace the bridge. <br /> <br />Les Staples and Gene Johnson, Reed Township Board of Supervisors, requested that the bridge <br />be repaired rather than closed at a future date. Mr. Staples said four families depend on the <br />bridge to get to work, one being a farmer who owns property on both sides of the river. Also <br />speaking in favor of repairing the bridge were Curt Ness, Laurel Nundahl, Bruce and Vicki <br />Brodsho, Tom Davis and Dean Rust, Raymond Township Board of Supervisors. Mr. Johnson <br />indicated that the township plans to rebuild one mile of road in this area next year. MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Toussaint moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to schedule a <br /> decision regarding the future of the bridge located between Sections <br /> 7-18, Reed Township, for the October 23, 1995 meeting; and direct the <br /> county engineer to provide recommendations prior to the meeting. <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> <br />
