Mr. Eckert said he is not ready to approve budget <br />reductions without getting more information from the affected departments. Mr. VVieland said the <br />budget books were provided to all commissioners about a month ago so everyone had an <br />opportunity to visit with their portfolio departments. Mrs. Schneider said she was impressed with <br />the budget process and recognizes the time which the Auditor's Office spends preparing the <br />documents, in addition to finance committee meetings. She did suggest that the committee's <br />recommendations be provided sooner than the day of preliminary budget approval in the future. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to accept the <br /> preliminary budget of $22,899,064 with a mill levy of 66.28, as <br /> recommended by the Finance Committee; and direct the county auditor <br /> to advertise for a hearing on the 1996 Cass County Government budget <br /> for September 18, 1995, at 3:30 PM in the Cass County Commission <br /> Room. Discussion: Mr. Ness said he will be absent from the meeting <br /> on September 18th. Mr. Montplaisir also will not be at the next meeting, <br /> but he said the final budget is generally not approved on the same day <br /> as the public hearing. Therefore, the board set the date of September <br /> 26, 1995, at 3:30 PM in the Commission Room at the Courthouse for <br /> final budget approval. On roll call vote, the motion carried with four <br /> members voting "Aye," Mr. Eckert opposing. <br /> <br />VOUCHERS, A_o_oroved * MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Eckert moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to approve Vouchers No. <br /> 78,760 through No. 79,768. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />FARGO CASS COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CONCERNS; SPECIAL ASSESSMENT <br />COMMITTEE MEETING SET; EAST CENTRAL MEETING REMINDER, Committee re_ports <br />Mrs. Schneider reported that she is meeting with Joseph Esch on Friday, September 8th, <br />regarding local economic development projects; and she also plans to meet with John Kramer and <br />Tim Mathern, Fargo Cass County Economic Development Corporation. <br /> <br />Mrs. Toussaint informed commissioners that the newly appointed Special Assessment Ordinance <br />Committee will be meeting at the Road Department at 7:30 AM on September 12, 1995. <br /> <br />Mr. Wieland reminded commissioners of the East Central Commissioners Association meeting <br />in Cooperstown at the Coachman Inn, 10:00 AM on September 11, 1995. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to receive and file <br /> correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: Motion carried. <br /> <br />information from County Engineer Keith Berndt and copy of letter from David Piper, <br />Chairman of the Maple River Township Board of Supervisors dated August 22, 1995 <br />regarding proposed culvert crossing between Sections 13 and 24, Maple River Township; <br /> <br />letter from North Dakota Association of Counties dated August 30th regarding 1996 <br />association dues. <br /> <br /> <br />
