Comm. Minutes--May 2, 1994 1205

Mr. Ness said the transfer of 911 dispatch calls to the City of Fargo
has been delayed until July 12, 1994, due to the anticipated move of
the City of Fargo dispatch service to new quarters and ongoing
training of two recently hired dispatchers. Mr. Wieland reported that
the Joint Dispatch Council, consisting of representatives from the
Cities of Fargo and West Fargo and Cass County Government met last
week with the technical committee, who will present a tentative plan
for joint dispatch services, with monthly updates on their progress.

Mr. Montplaisir asked Commissioners to begin thinking about the
purchase of one additional election scanner because the City of Fargo
has indicated they may be interested in paying half of the cost of a
new scanner. The city budgeted money for a run-off election this year
but did not need to conduct a run-off election for the mayor's race.
Commissioners were in agreement that Mr. Montplaisir continue to
pursue the purchase on a cost-share basis with the City of Fargo.

Mr. Risher informed Commissioners he is sending a letter to Senator
Byron Dorgan encouraging support of Senate Bill 1822, known as the
Communications Act of 1994.

19.

CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed MOTION, passed
Mr. Ness moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to receive and
file correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows:
Motion carried.

- County Court officer's report for February, 1994;

North Dakota Department of Transportation letters on
solicitation of Engineering Services and special road funds;

memo from Frank Klein, representing Department Head Group,
recommending that "Jeans Day" not be implemented;

letter from Sheriff Don Rudnick regarding 911 dispatch.

20.

ADJOURNMENT
MOTION, passed
On motion by Mr. Ness and seconded by Mrs. Toussaint, the
meeting was adjourned about 4:30 PM.

ATTEST:

Michael Montplaisir - County Auditor
Cass County, North Dakota

APPROVED:

Steve Rlsher, hairman
Cass County Commission
