COMMISSION POLICY MANUAL, Section 4.00 (Advisory Boards) amended Four applications were received for two positions on the Cass County Park Board for the remainder of 1993. Mr. Eckert said the two applicants who have been serving on the Park Board for a number of years live near the county park at Brewer Lake, and he thinks they can better serve the area. He was concerned about eligibility to serve on the county park board, but according to North Dakota Century Code, any resident citizen of the county is eligible for appointment. MOTION, passed Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Risher seconded to nominate Keith Monilaws and Wayne Kyser to the County Park Board for the remainder of 1993. Discussion was held and Mr. Ness said he thinks the Commission should encourage new members who are interested in participating in county government. He thinks it would be a good compromise to appoint one new member and one former member, and Mr. Wieland was in agreement. Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Risher seconded to amend the nomination and appoint Jan Gabriel and Keith Monilaws to the Cass County Park Board for calendar year 1993. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously to appoint Jan Gabriel and Keith Monilaws. VOUCHERS APPROVED MOTION, passed Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Risher seconded to approve Vouchers No. 46,374 through No. 47,227. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. NACo CONFERENCE; PROPOSED LEGISLATION, Committee reports Mr. Risher reported on the National Association of Counties seminar which he attended in Washington, D.C. last month. MOTION, passed Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Risher seconded that the Chairman send a letter to Cass County legislators asking them to oppose SB 2240 which requires the board of commissioners to call a special election to fill a vacancy. The County Auditor estimated the cost of a special election to be $10- $15,000. Motion carried unanimously. CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed MOTION, passed Mr. Risher moved and Mr. Ness seconded to receive and file correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: Motion carried.
