Minutes--November 16, 1992 956 <br /> <br />18. <br /> <br />WEED/VECTOR CONTROL, Discussion on 1993 budget options MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Shannon moved and Mr. Risher seconded to request the <br /> State's Attorney to provide in writing the county's core <br /> responsibility for weed control and vector control and to <br /> explore ways that various other departments in the county <br /> might be utilized for a more efficient operation in Cass <br /> County. <br /> Discussion: Mr. Eckert said there is no mention of <br /> communication or input from the weed department and no <br /> indication of which other departments might be combined. Also, <br /> he thinks it inappropriate to take action without the entire <br /> commission present. Mr. Risher said the commission is only <br /> asking the State's Attorney to determine what can and cannot be <br /> done legally. Mrs. Toussaint said the commission isn't making <br /> a decision today but is asking what the responsibilities are for <br /> these two departments. At the call for the question and on roll <br /> call vote, the motion carried with Mr. Shannon, Mr. Risher and <br /> Mrs. Toussaint voting "Aye," Mr. Eckert opposing. <br /> <br />19. <br /> <br />SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT, Payment to Professional Computer Software <br />Services <br />A memo was received from Data Processing Coordinator Michael Steiner <br />requesting payment to Professional Computer Software Services (PCSS) <br />upon installation of court and state's attorney software. Mr. Shannon <br />said he understood that installation of the software would be <br />concurrent with a training schedule. Mr. Golf said the training <br />schedule needs to be completed by early next year, which will coincide <br />with modifications for each department. MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Shannon moved and Mr. Risher seconded to allow the <br /> County Auditor to issue a check in the amount of $30,000 to <br /> Professional Computer Software Services per terms of the <br /> license agreement. On roll call vote, motion carried <br /> unanimously. <br /> <br />20. <br /> <br />STATE'S ATTORNEY OFFICE SPACE; COURTHOUSE DRAINAGE; ELECTION WORKERS; <br />INTERNATIONAL COALITION ANNUAL MEETING; HOME RULE PANEL DISCUSSION, <br />Committee reports <br />State's Attorney John Golf expressed appreciation for additional space <br />which his department acquired by utilizing a fourth floor hallway, and <br />he publicly thanked the Regional Child Support Office for donating <br />their used filing cabinets to his department. <br /> <br />Mr. Eckert said he waited several weeks for a company to resolve the <br />drainage problem around the courthouse, and the curb cuts have now <br />been made but the work hasn't been completed as agreed upon. <br /> <br />Mr. Montplaisir thanked the commission for the letter of commendation <br />to his staff and other county departments who assisted him on election <br />night. He said it would have been impossible to run the election <br />without the cooperation of a number of other county offices, such as <br />the treasurer and tax director offices who helped throughout the <br />election process with absentee ballots, and the Sheriff's Department <br />who assisted by picking up ballots after rural voting precincts <br />closed.
