RECEIVED
OCT 3 1 2005

North Dakota Recorders Information Netwark

CASS COUNTY COMMISSION

October 31, 2005

Darrell Vanyo
Chairman, Cass County Commission
P.O. Box 2806
Fargo, ND 58108-2806

Dear Mr. Vanyo:

On behalf ofthe North Dakota Recorders Information Network (NDRIN) board I'm writing to
ask the Cass County Commission to consider making a budget adjustment to the 2005 NDRIN
budget.

The "Document Preservation Fee" that was enacted during the 2001 North Dakota Legislative
session is the primary method of funding for the NDRIN project. During the 2005 North Dakota
Legislative Session SB-2024 was passed and signed by the Governor. This bill removed the
"sunset" clause from the "Document Preservation Fee". The passage of SB-2024 helps insure
the continued success and long-term funding of the NDRIN project.

NDRIN is in the process of replacing the existing iCris application with the new and improved
Eagle Recorder application as approved by the Cass County Commission in August. Additional
computer equipment and storage capacity is required to support the Eagle Recorder package.

The NDRlN Board wanted to get final approval from the Cass County Commission to spend
funds that were not originally included in the 2005 budget. We would ask that the Cass County
Commission approve increasing the "computer equipment" line item of the 2005 NDRlN budget
by a total of $20,000.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter, please contact me at (701) 462-
8541.

Sincerely,

(j)ewey Oster

Dwayne "Dewey" Oster
NDRIN President

Suggested Motion: Amend the 2005 NDRIN budget by increasing the "Computer Equipment"
line item by $20,000.
