CASSCOUNlY RECEIV
GOVERNMENT ED

..I.. OCT 18 2005

CASS COUNTY COMMISSION

MEMORANDUM

Highway
Department

TO: Cass County Commission

Keith D. Berndt, P.E.
County Engineer

FROM: Keith Berndt '713
DATE: October 17, 2005

Richard S. Sieg
Superintendent

SUBJECT: Consent Agenda Item for November 7,2005
Commission Meeting

Thomas B. Soucy, P.E.
Design and Construction
Supervisor

In my absence for military duty, I'd recommend that my duties
be covered by Rich Sieg and Tom Soucy and that both
receive acting pay. Rich would be designated as the acting
department head and Tom would fill in Rich's position as the
second in charge. Rich is not a registered professional
engineer, Tom is. So while Rich would have
overall department responsibilities, Tom would sign plans or
other documents requiring the County Engineer/Professional
engineer signature.

Rich is currently a D62 step 10. His pay rate is $65,112. If
we apply the lowest step in my DBM rating at least 5% over
current salary, he'd end up acting in an E83 step 3 = $69,576

Tom is currently a C51 step 9. His pay rate is $55,430. The
5% would govern in his case also to move into a D62 step 6 =
$59,684.

SUGGESTED MOTION: Approve Acting Pay for Rich Sieg
and Tom Soucy in the absence of the County Engineer.

J:\Admin-Eng\General Correspondence\2005 Correspondence\Acting Pay Agenda Item for Nov 7.doc

1201 Main Avenue West
West Fargo, North Dakota
58078-1301

701-298-2370
Fax 701-298-2395
