Comm, Minutes--May 16, 1999 258 30. TAX DEPARTMENT, CorresPondence from State Correspondence was received from the State Tax Department informing the County of a public information meeting to be held in Fargo on Hay 30th from 1:30-3:00 PH at the Town House Motor Inn to e×p]ain changes to North Dakota tax laws enacted by the 1989 Legislature. 31. SHERIFF DEPARTMENT, Out of state travel MOTION, passed Upon the request of Sheriff Don Rudnick, Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to approve out of state travel for Kathy Simmons and Kelly Idso to attend a conference 'in Minneapolis, HN on Hay 23-25, 1989. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. 32. SOCIAL SERVICES, Out of state travel MOTION, passed Upon the request of County Social Services, Mr. Sondr-all moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to approve out of state travel for Paul White to attend a conference in Minneapolis, HN on May 21-23, 1989. Motion carried. 33. NACO, Annual conference Information was received from the National Association of Counties regarding the annual convention to be held in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 15-18. Mr. Wieland felt one of the other Commissioners should attend, and the voting credentials were referred to Mr. Shannon. 34, SALARY GRADING AND DEPARTMENT HEADS EVALUATION Mr. Wieland reported that he attended a meeting this morning with Social Services, and salary grading is being done with the hope of being completed for Commission action at the June meeting. He also reported that evaluation forms will be sent from the Personnel Office to be completed by County department heads. 35. COMMISSION RECEIVING COMPLAINTS, Follow-up suggested Hrs. Toussaint stated that she tried calling Mr. Dennis Oye, who brought a complaint to the Commission a few weeks ago. She felt a Commissioner should follow up on any complaints, but stated that she was unable to contact Mr. Oye. Hr. Eckert stated that he spoke to the County Engineer about Mr. Oye's complaint, and will also try to contact Mr. Oye. 36. VOUCHERS QUESTIONED, Update Mr. Shannon asked the Chairman about the status of two vouchers which were questioned at the last meeting, and Mr. Eckert gave' an explanation and stated that he did approve them for payment. 37. JAIL ADVISORY COMMITTEE, All names submitted Chairman Eckert stated that all names have been provided for the makeup of the Jail Advisory Committee, and Mr. Wieland suggested that the Sheriff send a letter to all members inviting them to an organizational meeting to be held in the next 2-3 weeks.
