Minutes--March 21, 1989 206 <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Shannon moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded that Cass <br />County supports in concept the Red River Snagging project <br />of 22 river miles, and designates the Metropolitan Council <br />of Governments as the lead agency. On roll call vote, the <br />motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />6.METRO COG, Forestry <br /> Steve Zaiser reported on the status of the Red River Forestry <br /> project, which involves harvesting of marketable Dutch Elm trees. He <br /> stated that the project is in jeopardy because the North Dakota <br /> Forest Service is having difficulty getting Federal funding for this <br /> project beyond June, 1989. Mr. Wieland asked if the Red River <br /> Steering Committee has discussed this project, and Mr. Shannon stated <br /> that he will find out what has been discussed. Mr. Eckert stated <br /> that the County would like to see particular attention paid to the <br /> replanting of trees. MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Shannon moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that the Fargo- <br /> Moorhead Metropolitan Council of Governments strongly <br /> endorse the North Dakota Forest Service application for <br /> funds to extend their participation in the Red River <br /> Forestry Project through June, 1990. Motion carried. <br /> <br />7.METRO COG, Bikeway <br /> Steve Zaiser stated that the Commission should appoint one staff <br /> person to represent Cass County on the Metropolitan Bike~ay <br /> Committee. Mr. Wieland asked if the bikeway plan still includes 9th <br /> Street on the east side of the Courthouse. Mr. Zaiser stated that it <br /> would be either a Class 2 or a Class 3, and there would be no parking <br /> restrictions on a Class 3. He stated that this will be part of the <br /> discussions. Mr. Shannon asked if the Mayor of Fargo supports the <br /> Bikeway Plan, and Mr. Zaiser has not heard otherwise. MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Sondrall moved and Mr. Shannon seconded that County <br /> Planner Earl Haugen be appointed to represent Cass County <br /> on the Metropolitan Bikeway Committee. On roll call <br /> vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />8.SOCIAL SERVICES, Flex time <br /> Chairman Eckert requested Alvin Johnson from County Social Services, <br /> to be present at this time regarding'his report on the variable time <br /> schedule in the eligibility department. Mr. Johnson stated that he <br /> has nothing further to add, other than it enables them to get their <br /> work done on time. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Toussaint moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to continue <br /> the flexible hours in the Social Services Eligibility <br /> Department until such time that it is no longer needed. On <br /> roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> <br />
